Still on my workout program Week 3…

I’ve gotten behind on my workout schedule. Week 3 has turned into Weeks 3&4. Now, I wasn’t skipping out, I just saw something shiny/physically challenging and gave it a try in place of my daily workout. NOW, I know consistency is key to reaching my fitness goals, so I am going to finish it out without substitutions. Which means no more shenanigans and I can finish on Saturday. Self-talk works for me…


What was yesterday’s shiny object? Well, nothing. Instead of downloading my workouts as recommended, I generally stream them… and today the internet didn’t play nice. So to get some exercise I decided to take a run. Hell, I’ve got a Santa Dash 5K coming up anyway, might as well give it a go.  So today the pup and I did 2.86 miles in 38 minutes. Great for me, maybe not so good for real runners, but we all have to start(over) somewhere.

So today’s victories are many. I didn’t let technology rule my life. The pup and I enjoyed a beautiful crisp Fall day. I burned a few calories and got my running started again. Not a bad way to improvise.


Otherwise, what’s up? We get married next week!! YAY! So trying to be the best me I can and keep this body moving.


When I wake up I can see abs! Then gravity sets in… but I’ve always said that I have got washboard abs, just have a few loads of laundry on top.

30 Days, 4lbs, and Forward Motion

img_4488January 2: I was embarrassed and distressed at how bad I looked, and honestly how bad I felt. Just look at the face in those two photos – it says a lot. You need to be happy with you. I am not happy in this body and I do not need one more person saying “you’re perfect the way you are.” That’s an excuse to be unhealthy and I will no longer make excuses or allow myself to be in lazy habits. I used to be beautifully curvy, now I’m lumpy and rolly. Curvy does not equal obese. Obese IS unhealthy no matter how you slice it.

February 2: Down 4lbs in 30 days – I’ll take it. Now, if I burned all of that at 3,500 calories per pound, that would be 14,000 calories burned. Now, a literal lb of fat and overall weight loss are different (water, proteins) but either way – #IAmWinning. I’ve been working out fairly consistently since 1 Jan, took my photo on 2 Jan, and started my #lowcarb #keto nutrition on 13 Jan (just felt right). This progress photo on 2 Feb. I see a little difference, but I FEEL the difference already in my clothes. I’ve got a long way to go, but I am proud of me. Sunday ends my current #ChallengeGroup and we start again on 13 Feb. Yes, all body types are different, but don’t lie to yourself. If you’re truly happy in your current state of health, then keep it up! Body fat is like compounded interest?? – Interesting…

Equating debt to body fat?? Yep, this one hit home for me…

If you know me at all, you know I don’t like anyone messing with my piggy bank. I work hard to earn my pennies and I decide how to spend them … and wasting money on paying down interest isn’t on my to-do list.piggy

This morning I watched a motivational video with one point about the physical transformation process of losing body fat and getting in shape being the hardest part of the process. Body fat is compounded interest – and you have to work 100X harder to work it off, just like interest on credit card debt.

The speaker, who was an easy-on-the eyes fitness guru, equated working hard to get your body in shape is like paying down debt and having to work incredibly hard to pay down the amount owed to the easier process of maintaining a state of financial stability. {Not recommending this video to anyone who is easily offended by potty-mouths…or by seemingly hopped up juice heads… his points still resonate}

Well, this one made total sense to me. I know how to manage my finances, but managing my weight has always been an uphill battle. Add on the last few years of personal struggle, and I’ve dug myself quite a hole of debt in the realm of overall chub.


Screen Shot 2015-02-17 at 10.04.57 AMNow, I’m not going to reiterate my comfort eating and how I arrived at my current state. My point today is that we can all dig ourselves out it just takes hard work.
I’ve been doing my beloved P90X lately and while the muscle to fat ratio has changed, and my clothes are starting to fit better, the scale hasn’t changed a lick. Yes, I am well aware that the scale is not the ONLY metric, but right now it’s a pretty important one to me. But change is the only way to dig myself out.

So here are a few of the changes I am making/have made to really get rid of the unhealthy chunk that I’ve accumulated:

  • Last week I started Les Mills Combat to up my cardio and burn calories
  • Lent starts tomorrow, so if I can’t work on myself for a greater purpose, then I am entirely lost. I will improve, and care for the temple God gave to me in this body. Along the way, I hope to inspire a few more people to do the same.
    • For me, this means sticking to a low carb diet and behaving while traveling, even on my Euro vacation
    • Following the workout schedule for the next 40 (OK, 60) days and pushing play according to my online schedule for the Combat program (this one includes no equipment, so just taking the DVDs with me while traveling requires minimal effort)

Cheers to 2015 – This year I WILL hit my goals

Happy Saturday Night – as you can tell, I am being super-awesome and staying in tonight. #Snark? Usually, but not this time.

I am proud of myself that day 3 of the New Year have just completed #P90X #CoreSynergistics. I feel great and am determined to lose my #Divorce weight, which is in combination with my #GradSchool weight. Stress and unbalance were a huge part of the past two years and I’m combating it now!

I want to be bikini-hot by May 17, which will be my 1-year divorce-aversary. It’s a goal of mine to spend it happy, on the beach, and in a bikini. I will celebrate my freedom, recovery, and my ever-growing #resiliency.

 How will I do this? Well, through food portion-control, sweat, and through surrounding myself with positivity. And I WILL lose 30lbs. Will I be a tiny stick, no, but that’s not my goal. I want to be healthy, and on this body that’s probably still thick. I’m cool with that.

Why? I want to get back to me and feel good again. I want my energy back. I want to be proud of myself and get back into cute clothes. Let’s be honest here, I want to look good naked. That’s why. FOR ME.

OK, now that’s those #goals have been published, I better stick to it.

What are your 2015 goals? Financial freedom? Increase, or diversify your income? Lose weight? Build muscle? Eat clean? Read more books? Do more professional development?

Whatever it is – write it down. Check on those goals every few weeks. Just because you miss it one week doesn’t mean you give up. Doing more is just that, do more than you did last year, last month, or last week.
