Ramblings from the Road

Coming to you from Alabama… My suit, that I am wearing today,  doesn’t fit…but I will not let it ruin my day.

I’ve been working to do a 180 on my physical health and get back to being comfortable in my own skin. Maybe once I hit 31 my metabolism started that dreaded slow down, but it’s no excuse. I just have to work harder.

As of right this moment I am attending a conference and have been up early for exercise the past two mornings. It’s improved my energy and mellowed out my conference-planner anxieties. To add salt my healing wounds, this morning I put on a suit jacket I have had since my interning days (12 years ago) to notice that it’s very tight and that’s there isn’t any way In hell I am getting this jacket buttoned. Thankfully it’s Alabama in Spring, meaning it’s warm and buttoning the jacket is not a necessity. But in any case, it’s a reminder of the massive amount of work I have to do to get back to good.

Before I got dressed, I had a good workout. Yesterday, I hit the #Dirty30 from the floor of my hotel room, and today it was #Pilates. The hotel gym didn’t open until 7, and that’s too late for this chick to workout, clean up and fix my face before heading into the conference. So I turned on my #BOD streaming workout and got down to business #21DayFix style.

While my goal really is to improve physical health, I want to feel good about myself again. I think many people can identify with that.  But we can’t allow the reasons that got us here to bog us down any further. I am taking control, and responsibility for myself, and do can you. We all have challenges and/or issues in life that might kick us when we’re down, but we can all overcome the issues. For me, I just had to make my peace with the past and move forward. There is no other choice and I refuse to dwell or let negativity overtake me. #ForgetAboutIt and move on.

Without the prompt from my too-small suit jacket, I had already done something  to make myself feel good. The jacket only affirmed my efforts in improving my physical health.

What are you going to do for yourself today? I got in a workout, am being more conscious about my diet,  and have decided to write this post. All things that make me happy. How are you going to choose to be #happy today?
